Welcome to Newton High School Career & Technical Education
The Newton High School Career & Technical Education department offers 16 career pathways to help prepare you to become college and career ready for the future. There are many opportunities for you to obtain college credit, shadow a mentor in a career field and earn industry certification. The goal is to prepare you for your future as you attend CTE courses at Newton High School.
The NHS Robotics team placed second at the Kansas City FIRST Regional Competition. The team also received the Quality Award. In addition to this, the RaileRobotics team won the Hub City Regional Competition in Lubbock, TX. This win qualified the team for the National competition in St. Louis in April.
On Monday, February 27 students in the Automotive program attended the the Pratt Community College Automotive Contest. NHS students placed 1st, 2nd and 5th. To compete in the contest, students take a 115 question timed test covering general automotive topics. The results of the competition are below:
1st Place - Joel Harms (right). Joel won a rolling tool cart as well as a full two year scholarship to the PCC auto program
2nd place - Trevor Koehn (middle). Trevor won a ratcheting wrench sent and a full two year scholarship to the PCC auto program.
5th Place - Tino Varges (left). Tino won a $500 scholarship to PCC.
