Business Professionals of America is the leading CTSO (Career and Technical Student Organization) for students pursuing careers in business management, office administration, information technology and other related career fields.

BPA has 43,000 members in over 2,300 chapters in 23 states. BPA is a co-curricular organization that supports business and information technology educators by offering co-curricular exercises based on national standards. 

The Workplace Skills Assessment Program (WSAP) prepares students to succeed and assesses real-world business skills and problem solving abilities in finance, management, IT and computer applications. It is BPA's showcase program and facilitates students demonstrating their career skills at regional, state and national conferences in 72 competitive events.

BPA Students Compete at Regional Leadership Conference

On December 7-8, 2017 the Newton High School Business Professionals of America Chapter competed at the Regional Competition in Wichita, Kansas. On Thursday night the students competed at West High School in computer events ranging from Medical Office Procedures to Intermediate Word Processing. Some of these events were individual events like Advanced Spreadsheet Applications and then some of the events were team events like Administrative Support Team. On Friday, December 8th the students traveled back to Wichita to Central Community Church to compete for a second day in multiple events. During this day’s competition there were several different presentation events. These events ranged from Video Production and Prepared Speech to Presentation Management. Like Thursday night, these events were also individual and team. Over the two days of competition the students also competed in open events. Open events are tests that the students can walk in and choose from eight different ones. Anyone can take these tests that are in attendance at the conference. Among the other events that Newton High School competed over the two days there were 26 top 10 placings.
